Blogs, blogging and bloggers

Tom Wark, over at Fermentation Blog gave me a very kind and generous review last week. I'm pretty flattered because his was the first Wine Blog I looked at that had the kind of cogent reporting and clear style that I find attractive and stimulating to read. In fact, you should probably stop reading my blog and go read his--it's much more comprehensive and better written. Sigh.

There are lots of great blogs out there, too many to read all of them. I find a few of them indispensable for stealing ideas, er, ah, I mean, stimulating discussion. One of the best for an industry view is Appellation America, which is newsy and sharp, and shows more than just one side of an issue.

I also really like the Women Wine Critics Board. I'm a macho cuss, and opinionated, so it's great to what women think about wine. Of course, my wife is smarter than me, has a better palate, and is more discerning about wine, so you'd think I got enough of that, but I really like WWCB's style.

For scoping other blogs, Wine Blog Watch is fabulous. No guarantees that the blogs have what you want, but it's a heckuva clearing-house for gently turning your brain into pudding reading what other people think of wine.

Finally, Vines and Wines is a great read because the author, Tyler Thomas is young, but wonderfully grumpy and opinionated. Throw in a great science background and actual employment as a winemaker, and you've got a great touchstone for critical thinking about wine issues.

Like I said, too many too read, and too many to list. As I have a chance I'll review more blogs I like and share them with you. There's a limit to how much wine you can drink, but not to how much you can think--and talk--about it.
