In the Spirit(s) of the Season

Happy Holidays!
I love this time of year: not only is Limited Edition presentation season finished for me (which means no more airports for a while!) it's the time of year when nearly everybody celebrates mid-winter by their traditions and customs. Some cynics say that the need for a reminder to be kind, generous and thankful once a year shouldn't be necessary, but I like the idea of institutionalising it, so there's a mark in the year to look forward to, and a time to celebrate just being nicer and enjoying it.
It was in that spirit that an email made its way to me this morning, from my friends at Noble Grape. A wonderful bunch of folks, I'm lucky enough to get to visit them in Eastern Canada a couple of times per year. I've taught our Winemaking Excellence (WME) courses to all of their staff, and enjoy the warm hospitality I always find there.
In particular, I find the company of Newfoundlanders refreshing--they're as kind as the day is long (which means, come sundown, watch your back) and they've got the best sense of humour, bar none, of the folks in any region of Canada. The email I referred to was sent on from Miss Congeniality, first runner-up in WME 101 and 201. She Screeched me in, and I West Coasted her right back and we've been fast friends ever since.
How fast? Check out the little dance number she whipped up featuring the both of us in full elf costume. That's my girl--or, checking the video a little more closely, maybe I'm the girl . . . now, how to pay her back?
(Note you'll need Adobe flash player to view the little video: you can follow the instructions on the elf site, or get it here.)
