On the Road Again

Well I'm so tired of cryin' but I'm out on the road again - I'm on the road again.
Well I'm so tired of cryin' but I'm out on the road again - I'm on the road again.
I ain't got no woman just to call my special friend.
And I'm going to leave the city, got to go away.
I'm going to leave the city, got to go away.
All this fussing and fighting, man I sure can't stay.

I know what you're saying, 'Tim, you just got back--where the heck do you think you're going?' Lots of different places, it turns out. Saturday I'm off to Vancouver Washington (Vancouver Jr. is just north of Portland Oregon, on the more heavily taxed side of the river, and yes, it's named after the same guy, Captain George Vancouver) where I'll be meeting with retail partners of Brewcraft USA, our West Coast distributor. I'm giving such stirring seminars as 'Holding a Wine Tasting Event', 'Troubleshooting Winexpert Kits', and the ever popular, 'Positioning Wine Kits' (generally I like them upright).
I'm back Sunday night, and Monday morning I'm off to Niagara for some seminars. This time I'm learning instead of teaching (and you thought I knew it all) at a course on Lean Principles in Manufacturing. I'm fascinated by this opportunity (lean manufacturing is how Toyota got so successful in a tough industry) because it's outside of my regular area of expertise. As Emil Faber said, 'Knowledge is Good'.
Then it's back to BC for three days to shoot a video. We're doing a cover of the Rocky Horror Picture Show and I'm playing Eddie, reprising Meat Loaf's role in the movie version. No, wait, it's a winemaking video, of course! I finished the script Monday and we're shooting the week of the 12th. I hope they get somebody really handsome to play me. Of course, he'll lack my magnetic presence, but the savings on wide lenses will more than compensate.
Then as soon as we wrap I'm off to Sonoma for the Winemaker Magazine conference. I'd better get off my duff and buff up my presentations for that! It's a busy schedule, but I hope to squeeze in a little time in San Francisco (Dawn wants to go shopping and I want to go to Haight-Ashbury and search for fossilised Hippies) and we both want to go back to Gloria Ferrer for an afternoon: we spent a lovely time on their patio when we went to the Copia Wine and the Mind Symposium a couple of years ago.
As soon as I'm back I've got events in Victoria and the Lower Mainland, Winemaking Excellence for your Authorised Retail Partners, whcih will pretty much take care of the rest of May and half of June. Whee!
Maybe I should get a part-time job to fill my empty hours . . .
