Friends from Abroad

The South Hills crew at the ball park. It's always the party deck when they're around!

One of the best benefits of my job is getting to meet with thousands of new people, and having them become old friends. Here in my second decade of doing the world's oddest job I've gotten to know folks from around the globe, all united in a common delight in making our own wine at home. Last week in Cleveland at the LD Carlson conference I got a chance to hang out with old and new friends.

South Hills Brewing Supply is located in Pittsburgh PA. I'll never forget the time I visited there because part of the driving instructions were, 'turn left at the bridge'. At the time I didn't realise the hilarity of the comment, but when I read that only Venice, Italy has more bridges than Pittsburgh, I caught on to the joke--you can't go 100 yards without crossing another bridge in that town.

From left to right it's Paul, Steve, Jon (the owner) and Tony. Tony's my favorite because he brought me the beverage I'm holding (I think it was Root Beer, or diet soda . . .) but the whole crew is a great bunch, in a great shop. I'm only sorry I had to head off before the party ended (I had to get up early so I could spend the day waiting for Air Canada to remember where they left their keys) but I'll definitely be back to see everyone again next year.
