And the Winner Is . . .

That'd be the Pyew-litzer in my case . . .
Wow! When I ran off to tour wine country in Yakima I had no idea so many entries for my 'favorite wine/favorite wine and food experience' win-free-stuff contest would come in right at the deadline! When I opened my inbox last night it was crammed full with great stories and wonderful reminiscences about wine and food experiences. Everyone seems to have a favorite, but not just wine. Folks also write very movingly about the time place, and especially the people they shared their wine with. To me, you're all winners because you share your love of wine and the sweet life with others.
But, there are only three prizes to give out, and those winners are
- Adam L of Austin Texas
- Lisa L (no relation) of Kent Ohio
- Larry M of Virginia
And lest you think it's a sweep by Americans, I decided to award a very special extra-prize to Alan B. of Cape Breton, Nova Scotia. Like the rest of the entrants he had a passion for wine, and for sharing it with others. Here's part of his entry:
My favourite wine is Italian Amarone, a Selection International red wine, for several reasons, most importantly because of the flavour intensity and the warm finish it provides. After my commitment to becoming a home vintner for life, my wife and I discovered our preference for Italian wines. I began researching and came across an interesting description of Amarone and the uniqueness of it–I just had to try it! Being a higher-priced wine than others for my income bracket, I decided it would be best to invest in a wine kit and hope for the best. I discussed my need to purchase an Amarone kit from one of my Winexpert distributors in Nova Scotia and . . . a few months later I purchased the kit, fell in love and it has now become our 'wine of choice' in this house and in a few others as well. To my wife and I our cellar must include Amarone!
A man and his wineA most memorable food and wine moment took place in February 2007 in my hotel room in Sydney, Nova Scotia. Several colleagues of mine and I were attending a science forum at Cape Breton University. My wife and I invited them to our room on the evening prior to the event to share wine, shrimp cocktail and conversation. About 8 – 10 people came that night and sometimes they still open conversations with reference to the wonderful wine they had that night. Winexpert has been a key element in our team-building at special functions over the last 3 years now!
Good taste and willing to share? Now there's a fellow you need to hang around with!
Congratulations and good work to Chad, David, Holly, Jay, Kim, Hal, Ray, Mark and everyone else who entered. It really makes me happy to read so many stories of people enjoying wine in their lives, and enjoying the life in their wines. Cheers!

I really enjoyed reading the excerpt from Alan's entry. He does sound like a great guy to hang around with and his passion for wine making is evident. That is quite an impressive selection of wine in the photo!! Good contest Tim...keep them coming!
