Comox, a Signature City

Hong Kong? Paris? Not important enough to rate their own clock.

Comox might not be the most beautiful place on earth, but it's in the running. I'm off there tomorrow to do a Limited Edition tasting for my pal Sigrid at Signature Wines. She runs a wonderful store, and has some great folks working for her, so I'm looking forward to dropping in on them. It's been a few years since I've seen them and that's too long!

Of course, for me that means another one of those midnight Nanaimo ferry rides home. My last one was running late and slow so I didnt' see home again until 3 am . . . There's kind of a ghostly feeling being almost completely alone on a ferry designed to hold hundreds and hundreds of people, kind of a 'Flying Dutchman' vibe, although he was a Vandervecken, not a Vandergrift, I think.

Next week it's boots on the ground for me again: I'll be doing my annual Winesense tastings in Brandon and Winnipeg. All four events are sold out, just like every year. Colin, Craig and all their managers and staff work like Trojans to put on a huge event: three hundred people a night, giant ballrooms, a dozen people pouring and running--it's like doing four weddings in four days! Always a gas though.

Week after that I'm in Alberta: the 24th and 25th I'm in Edmonton, doing events for Creative Connoisseur and Cap and Cork, and the 27th and 28th I'm down in Calgary with The Home Vintner and The Vineyard. There may be tickets left: check with the retailers in your area.

Whew, time to pack again. Where's my dramnamine?
