Welcome to the bingo capital of Canada!

Ah, Winnipeg. I come here at least a couple of times every year. Winesense, our retail partner in the city, does a solid week of Limited Edition wine tasting events every winter, and I do at least one training session for their staff and managers each year, so I get to see the city pretty frequently (as well as Brandon, too--hey Ben! Go Wheat Kings!)

It's great working with all the Winsense folks, and of course I always have a great time seeing Colin, Craig, Wendy and all the assorted folks roped into working/helping/noodling around with us (hey Andy! Kimmy! Pat and Deb! Everyone!) but once, just once, I'd like to come here when they have their fabled 'good weather'. Ten years in, it's yet to happen.

My first visit here there was a rainstorm so bad it was washing away dumptrucks and drowning fish. The next time is was so cold that my blood turned to jelly and the gasoline froze solid in my car. The one time I came here in high summer, I assumed they'd slipped mentioning to me that they'd put a giant magnifying glass over town to incinerate poor innocent British Columbians like helpless ants. Now I come from 35C (mid-upper 90's for Americans) and endless sunshine beach weather at home to clouds and 10 (52F or so).

Ah well, we're off to a food and wine pairing tonight, so beach wear would be optional in any case: we've got an ambitious menu, some great wine and a learning experience all lined up very nicely. I'll see if I can get some pics to post on my next entry to show off how it came out.

In the meantime, where's my parka . . . oh that's right, I'm from BC, I don't own one!
