Off to the Races

Whaddya know, it's a small world after all

Funny how this time of year always seems to sneak up on me. You'd think that after a decade it wouldn't be so much of a surprise. But here we are in the middle of September and travel season is upon me. First up are Winexpert's Retailer conferences. There was one last weekend in Quebec, but I didn't make it this year--while I don't miss the travel, I really miss the people. Quebecois know how to enjoy themselves!

Saturday morning, very early, I'm off to Toronto to catch the Eastern Canadian conference. I'll be doing a Q&A event that night, so Air Canada had better get me to the church on time! Sunday I'm introducing some new retailer tools (searchable database, social media stuff) and talking about the upcoming Limited Edition season. It'll be good to catch up with all my Eastern friends and my co-workers. We can talk on email and conference calls all we want, but there's no substitute for face time.

Monday I'm off the New Jersey to hang with the Vintner's Circle folks, a Wine On Premise franchise in that area. David Schmelzle is the head of that project and he and his crew are always fun to hang with.

I'm turning right around on Tuesday, back home and then it's the Western Canadian conference, here in BC at the River Rock Casino. I don't gamble but it is a pretty nice place for a conference and we'll have another Q&A and wine tasting session. It'll be good to catch up with my BC retailer friends as well--I'm spread so thin these days that I don't even get out into my own back yard very often!

After that it's Limited Edition season. It's coming up so fast I get a little anxious when I look down at that countdown clock in the left bottom corner of this page . . . is it really that soon?

I hope to have a few minutes to update another blog before the weekend is out: got to do something on airplanes, might as well blog as listen to unhappy infants and grumpy travellers! I need to catch up on Hobbe's, my garden, the Gamay Nouveau party (have you got yours yet? Hurry! Look here: Gamay Nouveau Party Page) and a zillion other things.

Whew! Got to go pick up posters, banners and DVD's for Toronto and New Jersey. No rest for the wicked, but when did I get so bad?
