The Grand Tour
Where's Passepartout when I need him? Click on photo for gigantic image. It's definitely not going to the the travels of Phileas Fogg, but I'm going around North America for very nearly the next 80 days. Limited Edition 2010 is upon us, and I'm off to give some lectures about the wines and show off the wines and the food pairings that go with them. In addition to my travels I've got a bunch of folks doing parallel events: in Canada, wine educator and bon vivant Dave Laroque is doing a bunch of presentations in Ontario and British Columbia, our account managers are doing events in every province, and in the USA our LD Carlson representatives are on the same mission, although I'm helping out in a few cities as I'm available.
I think I've got most of my schedule nailed down, all but for the flight bookings and packing some clean socks. A partial list:
October
- 14 with Wine Central in Kelowna
- 17th with Just Fine Wines in Coquitlam
- 19th in Colorado with The Brew Hut, Stomp them Grapes and (tentatively) at High Country in Monument (Hi Woody!)
- 26th Fred's Wines in Langley
- Von Euw Brew in Abbotsford
November
- 2nd Quality Wines in Elkhart Indiana
- 4th Midwest Supplies in Minneapolis
- 8th Candlelight and Wine in Metchosin
- 9th BA Winexpert in Kamloops
- Week of the 15th: Winesense Manitoba, with events in Brandon on the 16th and Winnipeg on the 17th, 18th, and 19th
- Week of the 22nd: Noble Grape with events in Halifax on the 22nd, 23rd and 24th and in Fredricton on the 25th
- 30th Vintner's Circle Philadelphia
December
- 1st Vintner's Circle New Jersey
- 2nd Mr. Steve's Pennsylvania
- Week fo the 6th To Be Determined . . .
I've already done a couple of these events for some of our retail partners and the wines and the food pairings are working really well. I'm excited about the line-up and can't wait to tell everyone about it. If you can't get out to one of these events, you can check out a video of my presentation right here: Winexpert Limited Edition 2010. Scroll to the bottom and view me in all my hi-definition glory (sorry about that, I've really got a face for radio).
I've also got some overlap in there: I'm attending at least two Gamay Nouveau release parties in Winnipeg (one of which may well be a costume party . . . I think I'll go as a wine geek) and another in Halifax. If you haven't heard about our Gamay Nouveau, check out the Facebook Page. I'm bottling mine in Friday so I can take some to my Brother in Law's for Turkey dinner.
About that overlap though, I'm really glad my wife doesn't read this blog ('I get enough of you in real life', she says) because it looks like I'm going to have to head straight from Winnipeg to Halifax and won't see her for a couple of weeks. Does absence really make the heart grow fonder? I think I'm going to find out this year . . .
Time to book some flights and find my lecture notes. And away we go!
