It's Winesensical!

Makes sense to me!

It was another great night at the Victoria Inn in Winnipeg. We had just under 200 people in attendance for the lecture and tasting, and it seemed like everyone had a good time:

At least nobody is asleep . . .

Colin Swanston, emcee'd for the night. He's the co-owner of Winesense, which has five locations in Winnipeg and one in Brandon.

Any Argos fans out there?

Manitoba is a retail only province (unlike BC, Ontario and the newly changed Saskatchewan) so all of their customers are making wine in their own homes. This means that I get a lot more nitty-gritty technical questions in the Q&A part of the night, after my lecture, with folks wanting to talk about everything from sulphites (good for you) to malolactic (bad for wine kits) and ageing (we're all doing it). It's another reason why I love coming back here every year: I really have to be on my game.

Colin may be the face of the operation, but his brother Craig is the brain trust behind the LE event organising.

I are serious business guy! Making business!

Regular blog readers will recall I blogged about our Vegas Adventure last February. I've known the Swanston boys for most of a decade now, and they're a fine couple of fellows. Of course, behind every man there's a woman who's smarter, better looking and much too good for them. Here are three:

L to R: Kim, Wendy and Deb, the three graces

Kim and Deb are good friends who come out to help with the Limited Tasting every year. I get to stand up front and look like the main attraction, but if it wasn't for their hard work (and the work of dozens of others) nothing would get done. Thanks ladies! I can also attest that they're great companions, and the table is always rocking with laughter when we get together.

Wendy is Craig's fiancee. I'm not sure how he landed such a wonderful girl, but he's smart enough to have proposed, and I'll be at their wedding in January. Such a cute couple. When can I expect bambinos to cuddle? Hmm?

We've got another tasting tonight, and one more Friday for the big blow-out. The Wednesday/Thursday crowd is usually reserved, but it always seems the Friday folks are a little more goal-oriented . . . towards tasting the wine! Both shows should be a gas. Time to go get my tuxedo pressed!
