Fly the Friendly Skies?

Y'ever have one of those days? Y'know, where either the plane you're on has to make an emergency landing due to cabin-pressure failure (those slides are surprisingly fun) or you discover that airlines have two categories of luggage, 'Carry On' and 'Lost'? Or you're so late you get into your destination after all the restaurants are closed and you don't even have jammies to change into?

The worst thing about modern air travel? They don't even have food on airplanes anymore, so you can't even complain about how bad it is! But, as Frank Zappa said, to be a credible nation, you need a national airline. Thank goodness ours ranks right up with every other airline in the world!

On the other hand, the Homewood Suites on Baltimore's inner harbour has much to recommend it: nice and shiny new, and friendly, courteous staff. It's always the small things a frequent traveller remembers, I tell you what.

The good news is that the wine shop has the wines for our tasting tomorrow, and we'll go pick them up at around noon. Due to time constraints and legal issues, we can never serve our own kit-made wine at an event, so we have to choose commercial equivalents to represent the ones I'm talking about. This is much more difficult than you might imagine, as every market in Canada and the USA has different importers, product lists and laws about bringing wines in. Easy enough in my own province where I know People and can call in Favours, but much more difficult in Minneapolis or Winnipeg.

Ah, but the weather is pleasant and balmy and a new day brings new adventures! And, if I'm lucky, crabcakes!
